SCULPTURE - 16th January 2012
Hugh has been developing new curved and hollow form sculpture using Cor-Ten steel sheet and stainless steel wire that will stand up to 2.5m tall. Cor-Ten is a steel developed to quickly rust a thin surface layer, which then protects the body of the steel and developes a beautiful red/brown colour which is then waxed to give a rich patina.

SCULPTURE BY THE SEA, BONDI - November 2011
The 2011 Sculpture By The Sea has just wrapped up after two weeks on display along the cliffs, foreshore and beaches of the Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk, Sydney. The closing event included a visit by the Royal Couple, Frederik and Mary with Hugh and two other sculpters being presented to the couple.
Hugh received the the inaugural Sculpture By The Sea Dick Bett invitation award for a Tasmanian artist and has enjoyed the whole process from concept to installation.

SCULPTURE BY THE SEA - August 2011
Hugh has had the good fortune of being invited to show his 2011 'Botanicus Unfamilia' series at the Sculpture By The Sea, in Bondi this October.
From 27th October – 13th November 2011, this temporary sculpture park featuring over 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and overseas lines the cliffs, foreshore and beaches of the spectacular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk, Sydney.

NEW WEBSITE - August 2011
Welcome to our new website!
We hope the layout and photos allow you to see our work and get a feel of details and how it's worn without necessarily having to visit the studio. The web will now show our complete catalogue of jewellery with our annual booklet highlighting selected pieces.
Keep an eye on our news page for upcoming interstate invitations, new work and studio happenings.
We will kick off our web exhibitions with a Christmas show in December which will run for a number of weeks showcasing new jewellery as well as highlighting jewellery details and sculptures.
This will be followed by our quarterly 4 Seasons exhibitions starting with our summer edition in January.

WELCOME ROWAN - June 2011
We welcome Rowan McLachlan, our eldest son, to the McLachlan Studio team.
After training and working as a landscape architect in Melbourne, Rowan has returned to gold & silversmithing, joining McLachlan Studio while also starting a jewellery and textile design business in Melbourne with his partner, Saan.
Rowan will be building and managing our new website.
